In class, we have recently been looking at the Stone Age. In art, we looked at cave paintings from this time period and decided to create our own. In order to feel like we were in a cave, rather than drawing sitting at the tables, we decided to create our drawings under the tables.
Now that it is Autumn, we had fun going on a hunt to explore the different leaves in our our forest. Our challenge was to find lots of leaves that were different colours or shapes. We then used them to make leaf mobiles. They now look lovely hanging in our classroom.
In our English lesson, we worked with our learning partner to find interesting alternatives to common adjectives using a thesaurus.
In Science we have been busy investigating the properties of different types of rocks. Our challenge was to find out which rock would be the best material to use, to create a statue of Dame Alison. In order to find the best material, we tested how absorbent and strong the different types of rocks are.
In Forest School recently, we made our own temporary homes like the shelters created during the Stone Age. Our challenge was to create a shelter, that would protect us from the weather and predators. However, instead of using animal skins or bones, we used more modern materials.
