In today’s Forest School lesson, we learnt about an artist called Andy Goldsworthy who creates sculptures out of natural materials. We were so inspired by his art, that we created our own sculptures outside in the playground.
This week we started our Archaeology topic, by investigating rocks. First, we generated questions about rocks. Next, we learnt about the different types of rocks and different materials that are made from rocks. Then, we went on a rock hunt to find different materials in our environment made from rocks.
We discussed what it means to be an active learner. Year 3 came up with some brilliant ideas, such as
- We ask questions
- We investigate
- We share our ideas
- We use computers and books to conduct research
- We use resources, such as dictionaries, number lines and words mats to help us
- We work as a team
- We choose the right challenge for us
- We challenge ourselves
- We support and encourage each other.
We then had a treasure hunt, to find where all of the resources are in our new classroom.
