Rights of the Child Digital books

We have been learning about the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child as part of our Global Learning. We have explored the rights, which countries signed the agreement and which adults help to enforce them. In the last week of half term, we specifically focused on the right to an education and thought about how we enable everyone in our class to learn. We have changed our class expectations and been introduced to ‘Secret  Student’ to improve our learning environment. Have a look at our Thinking display in the classroom to find out more.  In ICT, we have created some digital books which share the rights that we think are the most important. To look at each book, click on the book cover picture next to the name.

Happy half term

Year 3,

Thank you for a great half term. You have all worked hard and impressed us with your enthusiasm for learning. We have enjoyed getting to know you all.

We have set you a little bit of homework which you will find under the homework tab.

Dominic and Rodrigo, thank you for tucking up Freddie and his friends for half term- they look nice and cosy!

Have a good rest; we look forward to seeing you on 3rd November.

Ufton Court

We had a brilliant time at Ufton Court today. We made spears, had a go at archery, completed an archaeological dig and followed the Ogham Trail. We were very proud of the children who behaved impeccably and loved every minute as you can see from the photos below. More photos will be posted tomorrow.

Exploring Continental Drift

We have been exploring Alfred Wegener’s theory of continental drift. We tried to fit the continents together and then came up with suggestions as to how the continents moved. The children had some brilliant ideas including an asteroid that hit the earth destroying the dinosaurs and shattering the surface of the earth! We then learnt about the Pangaea and tectonic plates.

Ufton Court trip

We will be going on our trip to Ufton Court next Wednesday 15th October. The Children need to be in school by 8:15am. Please remember that the children need to bring a packed lunch and a snack (no glass containers) in a plastic bag that we can throw away.

As we are going to be participating in an archaeological dig,the children need to wear old trousers and bring their wellies in a named plastic bag. They should also wear their school tops. We will be outside all day so they will need a warm waterproof coat too.

On the day, please follow us on our twitter account @year3atwroxham.

We are leaving Ufton Court, which is in Reading, at 2pm and hope to be back at school by 3:30pm. We will keep you posted via twitter and the school office if this changes.

Please come and talk to one of us if you have any questions
